One of the bands that hail from Salt Lake City, Utah, is the Deathcore band Chelsea Grin, who have four albums and two EP's under their belt. Ryan had his first country music hit single, "Dream Big," in 2005, and the song reached number one on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. He was signed to Capitol Records and his song reached # 2 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs Charts and # 3 on the Hot 100 Billboard Charts.
U2 may be celebrated in the households today for their success, but that wasn't exactly the case then, and for good reason. While the building and the venue have long since disappeared, music greats have been playing there for decades. The hall has played host to some of the biggest names in rock, country, pop, rock and country music. Photos and stories tell the story of this restaurant and its current status as a music venue. In its heyday, the hall had several hundred spectators, with a capacity of about 1,000 per show.

He is active in professional organizations and has served on several boards, including the Salt Lake City Chamber Music Association, the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the University of Utah. He has performed around the world and is a member of the board of the U.S. Chamber Orchestra, the United States Music Hall of Fame and the Museum.
He has taught at UTEvelyn and served on the boards of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, the Salt Lake City Chamber Music Association and the United States Music Hall of Fame.
Dr. Sowby has received state and national awards for his teaching work and has been a visiting professor at the University of Utah, Utah State University and the Utah Music Hall of Fame. He has been teaching at Southern Utah University since 2008 and is currently director of the Keyboard Studies program. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Salt Lake City Chamber Music Association, where she most recently served as Director of Music Education and Research, and a faculty member of the School of Music and Arts and Sciences, the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Utah.
He taught music and band at Oakley High School in Salt Lake City before moving to Bountiful, Utah, in 1958 and being hired by Bernell Wrigley in 1959 for his first teaching stint in Oakley. In 1975 he left the orchestra and became music director at the School of Music and Arts and Sciences at the University of Utah, but remained committed to music. In 1978 he founded the Utah Chamber Orchestra and was its conductor until 1978, and in 1990 he began to accompany Ballet West in numerous productions. Since then he has continued to be an orchestral director and continues to be involved in the field of music as a board member of both the Chamber Music Association and the Utah Music Hall of Fame, as well as on the board of trustees of the SaltLake City Chamber Music Association.
The choir has been awarded the National Medal of Arts and a GRAMMY Award, appeared on the radio show "Music for the Spoken Word" and has even been included in the national register of recording at the Library of Congress.
